Spring time is the perfect time to start an indoor bulb garden, but you don’t have to wait until then to get your indoor bulb garden started. Actually you can plant most bulbs indoors whenever you wish at any time of the year so that your flowers can sprout and bloom. Flowers such as amaryllis and paper whites really don’t require much work other than needing a little warmth and a little moisture. There are some flowers that require some time for pre-chilling. This means you will need to create a phoney winter time for them. This is very simple to do to do and is definitely worthwhile you see pots full of bright blooms to enjoy even on those grey days of the winter season. Occasionally you may be able to locate bulbs that have already been pre-chilled for you.

Things To Know About Your Indoor Bulb garden

An indoor bulb garden is actually a man made hybrid garden. There is a diverse collection of contemporary indoor flowering plants that are grown. They need a cool place in bright indirect light far away from heat sources like televisions and heating registers. If they are too close to heat the natural flowering process of your indoor bulb garden will procss too quickly and shorten your plant’s lives.

Indoor bulb gardens do not require humidity due to the fact that they are planted in sandy soil which provides excellent drainage. Because of this there will be no pests to bother the bulbs. About all you will need to do is place your plant on a plate, bowl or saucer in order to catch the water as it runs through the pot.

These gardens will give you a little bit of everything all in one container. They are so easy to nurture as they only need to be watered every other day and they don’t need any fertilizer. When your plant has completed its flowering, you can just plant a new one but do not plant it outdoors. This is the reason you should attempt to plant flowers that will come to a flower at different times. This way you can enjoy your blooms over a much longer period. Go to your local garden center or floral shop from January through March to purchase the blooms of your choice. There are many, many places online to place your purchase on these as well. They are inexpensive, which makes them a great item to dress up those dreary grey winter months throught your home or office.
